Guide · AI visibility (GEO)

How do you become the answer when buyers ask AI?

When a buyer asks ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity for a recommendation, the engine composes an answer from a handful of sources it can read, verify, and trust. Becoming the answer is a discipline, not a trick: make your site easy for engines to read, make your facts verifiable, and make third parties repeat them. This is the 7-point checklist we score against in every audit.

Facts on this page dated 11 October 2026, drawn from our own products and published pages: SkillPilot Scale (US$199 or RM850), its scored 40-point GEO audit, and this site's own crawler policy at /robots.txt and /llms.txt.

The checklist

Seven points decide whether an engine can name you.

01

Answer the question in the first two sentences

Engines lift short, direct passages. Put the direct answer at the top of each page — what you do, for whom, at what price — and the detail underneath. A page that buries its answer behind a story gets skipped.

02

Let the engines' crawlers in

Check robots.txt the way an engine reads it: are the AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, and friends) allowed on your public pages, while private accounts stay disallowed? If a bot is blocked, you do not exist in that engine's answers. This site publishes its policy openly — see /robots.txt.

03

Serve plain HTML that works without JavaScript

Many engines fetch pages without running JavaScript. If your content only renders through scripts, the engine sees an empty shell. Every public page should state its facts in the raw HTML — headings, text, tables, structured data.

04

Put machine-readable facts in schema

Product pages carry Product and Offer markup with the real prices; the company carries Organization and Person details. Structured data lets an engine quote your price, your address, and your product name without guessing — and engines rarely quote what they must reconstruct.

05

Publish a curated index for models

An llms.txt file gives language models a clean, dated index of what your site sells and where to read more. It is a small file with an outsized effect: see ours at /llms.txt. Keep it updated whenever prices or products change.

06

Keep one consistent description of your company everywhere

Engines cross-check your site against directories, social profiles, and press. If your name, address, or description differs between them, the engine loses confidence and hedges. Pick one description and repeat it exactly, everywhere you control.

07

Earn citations off-site

Engines prefer to say what someone else already said. A mention in a trade publication, a partner's client list, or a directory that repeats your exact description corroborates your site and makes citing you the low-risk choice. One credible mention beats ten self-published claims.

From checklist to score

Checklists fade. Scores on the record do not.

The honest way to run this discipline is scored: our Scale audit scores your site against 40 checks across these points, hands you a ranked fix list and a copy-paste fix pack, then rechecks at day 30 so the score moves on the record. A founder reviews every audit before it reaches you — within 48 hours of intake.

What an audit cannot do: force an engine to cite you. It removes the reasons engines skip you — unreadable pages, unverifiable facts, inconsistent details. We state this limit because your board will ask. Scale is US$199 or RM850, one-time.

Quick self-check (5 minutes)

Ask your site three questions: Can a bot fetch my main pages without JavaScript? Do my product pages state price and currency in schema? Does /robots.txt let AI crawlers read the public site while blocking private accounts? Two "no" answers mean the fix list is already long enough to start.

Questions owners ask about AI visibility

What is GEO, in one sentence?

Generative Engine Optimization: making your site the source an AI answer engine chooses to cite when a buyer asks about what you sell.

How is GEO different from SEO?

SEO wins a ranked link on a results page; GEO wins a mention inside a composed answer. The mechanics overlap — crawlable HTML, clear facts, real-world corroboration — but GEO adds engine-specific gates: crawler access, JavaScript-free rendering, and model-facing indexes like llms.txt.

How long does it take to move?

The fixes themselves are days of work; engine re-crawls and third-party corroboration set the pace after that. That is why our audit pairs the fix pack with a day-30 recheck — so you can see the score move on the record rather than hope.

Can you guarantee my business gets cited?

No — and anyone who guarantees that is not being honest with you. What we can do is remove the reasons engines skip you and verify the result with a recheck. See the limits stated on the Scale page.

What should we read before buying anything?

The Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Notice, and the Refund Policy. If you want a person's judgement first, the advisory engagements end in a fund, fix, or stop decision.

Next step

Run the 40-point audit on your site, get the ranked fix list, and recheck at day 30 with the score on the record.
